The most potent part of our business is not the science, technology, engineering, or math – it’s teaching the power of connectedness.
Success is not merely about achieving a great feat; its also about the process. At HEPH ED we take time to develop soft skills – communication, regard, respect for each other and the environment. We’ve coined a new term for this process – DREAM T.E.A.M.S.
First, there was S.T.E.M., and then there was S.T.E.A.M. We rearranged the letters of the acronym and turned it into T.E.A.M.S. Then added in DREAM to capture the meaning that should be at the heart of every endeavor.
To bring DREAM T.E.A.M.S. to life, we use the restorative practice of peace circles at the head of every session.
When people come together for restorative interactions they sit in circles. Circle dialogue is a fundamental element of restorative dialogue. Classroom circles support the two main goals of restorative practices: building community; and responding to harms through dialogue that sets things right.
